Members of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility and the public will gather for a networking event hosted by Small Dog Electronics at its flagship store in South Burlington. The success of Small Dog's first retail store in Chittenden County is demonstrating that the financial bottom line and socially responsible business go hand-in-hand.
Small Dog has instituted such SR practices as matching customer contributions to charitable causes, an e-Waste program to help reduce the amount of electronic waste being improperly discarded, and encouragement of employee involvement in the community. Attendees will hear from co-owners Don Mayer and his son, Hapy, staunch advocates for multiple bottom line practices and how that affects their employees and customers.
VBSR members, other business people and the general public are welcome to attend. The fee is $7 for VBSR members, $10 for non-members. Refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration is appreciated.
This event is hosted by Small Dog Electronics and is sponsored by Coaching Center of Vermont; Community & Economic Development Office (CEDO); Lake Champlain Chocolates; Maple Leaf Farm Associates, Inc.; Merritt & Merritt & Moulton, Attorneys at Law; Planned Parenthood of Northern New England; Praxis Consulting Group; Sugarsnap; Vermont Council for Quality; Vermont Energy Contracting & Supply Corp. It is co-sponsored by Gallagher, Flynn & Company.
VBSR is a statewide business trade association of nearly 700 Vermont companies representing over 30,000 employees and 4.5 billion in annual sales. Member companies represent the Vermont way of doing business showing respect for their employees, respect for the environment, and a commitment to an economy built upon multiple bottom lines.
