Press Release Detail
VBSR March 2007 Networking Get-Together Farmer's Diner...Food from Here
Members of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility and the public will gather for a networking event hosted by Farmers Diner at its new location in Quechee, VT. Tod Murphy, owner of Farmers Diner, knows most of his food suppliers personally and has made it his mission to revive small-scale family farming by creating new markets for local agricultural products. Tod will address some of the challenges he faces, and talk about why he believes his concept of "pods" of diners supporting local communities throughout the country might prove to be the antidote to industrial agriculture.
VBSR members, other business people and the general public are welcome to attend. The fee is $7 for VBSR members, $10 for non-members. Refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration is appreciated.
This event is hosted by Farmers Diner and is sponsored by Antioch University New England; COVER Home Repair; Marlboro College Graduate Center MBA in Managing for Sustainability; Merritt & Merritt & Moulton, Attorneys at Law; Onion River Co-op/City Market; Planned Parenthood of Northern New England; Resource Systems Group; and Shadow Productions.
VBSR is a statewide business trade association of nearly 700 Vermont companies representing over 30,000 employees and 4.5 billion in annual sales.
