Wood & Wood Featured As Source For Green Design
Recently Sign Of The Times, one of the industry’s leading magazines, featured Wood & Wood, Inc. as a source for green materials and methods. Sparky Potter, owner of Wood & Wood, has always considered using renewable materials a priority in all projects and he shares his knowledge so customers can make eco-conscious building choices.
The September article entitled “All Natural Signage” featured the design/build case study of the Vermont Trading Company’s new storefront sign located State Street in Montpelier, VT. In order to implement the trading company’s natural-themed brand and compliment the historic setting, a high degree of art and “Old World” craftsmanship was incorporated into the fabrication of a large piece of laminated pine with layers of paint washes. “This painting techniques is all about letting the wood show through,” Potter said. This painting technique has become a signature used by Wood & Wood since in 1972.
The November feature article entitled “Earth Signs” highlighted Wood & Wood’s use of innovative design with renewable materials and the creative fabrication techniques used to develop Seventh Generation’s architectural sign program at their headquarters Burlington, VT. To support company’s eco-friendly philosophy, Potter and his team crafted the exterior and interior dimensional signs using a combination of glass, aluminum, eco-ink jet prints and locally sourced wood.
