Rosie’s Girls Summer Camp Seeking Scholarship Support! 20-Year-Old Community Based Non-Profit Looking to Aid Middle School Girls in Camp Tuition Payments

VT Works for Women is a 20-yr-old community based nonprofit organization and we are seeking scholarship support for our summer camp for middle school girls called Rosie's Girls.

The camp takes place over three weeks at the Center for Technology, Essex and at the Barre Technical Center and engages 24 girls at each camp with female role models and exposes them to nontraditional careers such as carpentry, welding, engineering, fire fighting, electrical and auto repair through hands-on projects.  The program, now in its 9th year in Essex, has a proven track record of success with strengthening girls' voices, building a sense of community and encouraging participants (and the adults in their lives and communities) to challenge the expectations our society has for girls and women.

Here's what one camper had to say: “Rosie’s Girls showed me that when I grow up I can do whatever I want for a job even though I am a girl.”

Scholarship need is high, and we are looking for VBSR members to sponsor one girl ($750) to attend camp this summer.
