LineSync Architecture Featured in ‘From House to Home’ Dream Homes Really Do Come True
There is nothing ordinary about this home. From the moment it was conceived, it was unique. Begun in 1961 with a whopping $500 capital investment, it remained for many years an imaginary vacation home that, despite its additions through the years, was in reality no more than a wooden tent.
That didn't stop Claudette Hollenbeck and her family from enjoying every moment of the adventures that the home inspired. But in 1998, this retired widow decided she couldn't wait another minute to live here year-round, and she needed space that would house her dreams winter, spring, summer and fall.
This revelation was half the story because, as Hollenbeck herself points out, the landscape she loved was not the easiest place for a 70 -year-old woman to call home. Captivating and frustrating at the same time, the rugged location was inaccessible without a long trek from the "winter driveway." Hauling firewood, hiking the rocky shores of nearby Lake Raponda, and taking the dogs for a walk were definitely made more difficult by the fact that the house was never really completed.
Architect Joseph Cincotta, AIA, changed all that. A principle in LineSync Architectural Firm, Cincotta's ability to work with dynamic forms and to explore the unknown allowed unconventional design to seem completely at ease in both form and function. Hollenbeck says the meeting of the minds was transformative. A creative spark was immediately established. As she describes it, "two Italians toe to toe," battled about the elemental questions of which building blocks were critical and which were subject to negotiation.
But ultimately, the home represents a bargain between kindred spirits - Hollenbeck's authority in knowing what she likes and Cincotta's plan to bring it to life.
