The statewide award program is in its second year in Vermont, and is modeled after Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work for in America," and statewide best places to work programs in 20 states. The program is designed to:
Identify and recognize Vermont's best employers who strive to create and build better workplaces for their employees.
Develop definitive information to help existing companies in Vermont retain their work force.
Promote best employment opportunities to attract new workers.
Companies were evaluated and chosen by the Best Companies Group, an independent company managing best places to work programs in many states. Vermont Business Magazine partnered with The Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Vermont chapter of the Society of Human Resources Management, Vermont Department of Economic Development, and Vermont Department of Labor to present the award.
