Healthy World is Healthy for Business VBSR is Holding it's 18th Annual Spring Conference at Champlain College
BURLINGTON - Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility is holding its 18th Annual Spring Conference at Champlain College's Student Life Center on Wednesday, May 14, 7:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility is a nonprofit, statewide business trade organization whose members recognize that the need to make a profit and the need to make a difference are not in conflict, and who use the power of business to change the world.
Executive Director Will Patten explains: "Our conference theme, Business Climate Change, speaks volumes. We believe healthy people, healthy communities and a healthy environment are the foundations of a healthy economy. We are leading a new wave of businesses in Vermont that are investing in natural and social assets with the same rigor with which we invest in financial resources - not as a moral imperative but because it is good for business."
Conference highlights will be remarks from Governor Jim Douglas and keynote speaker John Abrams, co-founder and CEO of South Mountain Company, and author of 'The Company We Keep: Reinventing Small Business for People, Community and Place."
Other conference events will include workshops, exhibits, a silent auction, performance by Kathryn Blume of her play "The Boycott" and a post-conference party.
The cost of the conference is $150 for members, $200 for nonmembers.
