Details: The Engineering Manager is a new full-time position with our fast-growing company. This position will report to the Engineering Director and will serve as an active member of the department managers’ team. He/She will have direct reporting responsibility for 10-15 engineers and will plan and direct product development and manufacturing support activities within our engineering department. This position will work with all members of the engineering team as well as other departments to ensure engineering projects and initiatives stay on track and that engineering processes are continuously improving. The Engineering Manager will exercise good engineering judgment, demonstrate integrity, and be accountable for the decisions he or she makes on behalf of NRG Systems. This person will also become knowledgeable in technology trends in the wind energy industry, will communicate effectively with the engineering team and the company overall. He or she will work in partnership with the engineering team to achieve goals of the department that are in line with the company strategic plan, and will embrace the high standards of NRG ethics and core values. Job Responsibilities * Coordinate implementation of product designs and development * Manage technical design process, including design reviews. Identify areas of improvement in product development and product refinement processes * Manage day to day activities of the engineering department, including setting priorities based on the defined strategy * Provide support to the engineering team, including conducting weekly engineering team meetings * Participate with the Engineering Director in strategic planning for the engineering department * Provide supervision for direct reports, including monthly and annual performance reviews * Communicate with international and U.S. customers and suppliers as needed to support overall company objectives * Represent NRG Systems at relevant industry trade shows and wind seminars. * Maintain good product knowledge and ability to explain our products to the public * Champion NRG’s lean approach in design, design process, and design for manufacture Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in an engineering field * 5 years experience in engineering management * Proven ability to lead and develop cross-functional engineering teams * Manufacturing process knowledge, skilled in design for manufacture * Engineering project management expertise, ensuring that projects are completed successfully and in a timely way using good processes * Exceptional communication - both verbal and written skills * Experience with electro-mechanical systems and system integration * Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment with an ability to multi-task and meet deadlines * Excellent problem resolution and team-building skills, with ability to foster innovation * Aptitude for coaching and developing employees * Ability to establish successful relationships and work well with customers * Independence and self-direction * Excited to learn * Interest in the renewable energy industry, especially wind energy
