2006 Terry Ehrich Award

Award Winner: Matt Rubin, East Haven Wind Farm

The winner of the 2006 Terry Ehrich Award for Excellence in Socially Responsible Business Practices is Mathew Rubin, a Montpelier-based developer and operator of renewable energy projects, including the Winooski One Hydroelectric Project in Winooski. He is also developing a wind farm in East Haven, VT. Mr. Rubin has been an outspoken advocate and practitioner of environmental sustainability from food production to electric generation. He has been a leading proponent of renewable sources of electricity and supporter of efforts to mitigate the effects of business operations on our natural and social environment. Mr. Rubin was a founding member of VBSR and served actively on the board of directors for thirteen years.

The prestigious Terry Ehrich Award was established in 2003 in honor of Terry Ehrich, of Hemmings Motor News in Bennington. In addition to running a successful business, Terry Ehrich was a founding member of VBSR, founder of the First Day Foundation for public schools, and a tireless advocate for public policies to protect the Vermont environment, workforce, and a sustainable economy. The Terry Ehrich Award is given annually to an individual demonstrating the characteristics for which Terry was so well known socially responsible business principles in action in the workplace, political, natural and social justice environments.
