Public Policy Committee
VBSR Public Policy committee members meet monthly to develop policy and positions either proactively or in response to emerging issues. The committee gets feedback from the larger membership via member surveys, regional policy forums, and other VBSR events. Recommendations from the Public Policy Committee are made to the VBSR Board, and the Board votes on the committee's recommendations.
How to Join
The Board appoints public policy committee members. Please contact Public Policy Manager Daniel Barlow if you are interested in the committee.
What the Committee Does
The Public Policy Committee uses the following criteria to determine which issues to concentrate on. An issue must:
- Affect a broad range of businesses (not just one sector, e.g., retailers),
- Have a direct impact on business in Vermont (not a general social concern),
- Be one through which we can take a creative and pro-active stand,
- Be related to VBSR's mission,
- Have an active member willing to take the lead on the issue,
- Have a feasible outcome, and
- Be one where we can make an impact.
